Thyroid Issues, Anyone?

Well the results from my Friday’s visit to the doc are in. My thryroid levels are off again. Solution, double the dosage. Yay! Hypothyroidism can effect so much of your health and well being. Who knew?!

It’s been 2 years to the month almost since I was diagnosed. It was a shock to find out my thyroid function was off. I had just lost my best friend (my mom) to a long battle with many illnesses. I figured the tiredness, weight gain, irritability, etc. was all from going into a deep grieving process and my depression.

I had also recently spent 5 days in the hospital due to a Copperhead bite. You see, between losing my mom, moving, selling our home, getting bit by a snake, my thyroid was the furthest thing from my mind.

It has been a constant struggle to overcome this “thorn in the side” and be productive. Energy eludes you, muscle aches and joint pain set it.  I swear I’ve aged 10 years since 2013! Trying to get on the correct medication dosage has been fun. We’ve gone up and down on dosage.

Does anyone else struggle with hypothroid issues? I’d love to hear advice on what has worked. I have an amazing family, business, and Lord to serve! I don’t have time to be down!

Blessings Upon Blessings,

Emily Dibrell

  1. thyroid geek says:

Have you been tested for Hashimoto’s thyroidits (TPO antibodies)?
    Do you have a goiter?

  2. Thyroid geek says:

Next time ask to have TPO antibodies tested to see if the Hashimoto’s is an underlying cause of your thyroid condition. If so there are plenty of anecdotal evidences claiming that gluten free diets and selenium supplementation help to bring thyroid levels under control. Best!

  3. Sam says:

What are the medicines you are taking?
Metamizol (Metimez), carbimazole (Niyomerkejol), propylthiouracil(PTU), Beta blockers?
