Pink Zebra Reunion 2015 – Coming Soon!!

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for our 4th Family Reunion with Pink Zebra!! This will be my second one to attend since joining a little less than 2 years ago.  Last year due to Kenan’s work schedule, he was not able to attend Reunion 2014 in Nashville with me.  My brother and I took a road trip full of excitement together!  This year Kenan will be attending with me in the beautiful Texas Hill Country! This year we are only about 3 hours away vs 15 from Nashville.

I’ve been stalking the resorts website. Apparently the J.W. Marriot is an amazing resort with some pretty awesome reviews.  Saturday night, Managers and up will be in private workshops all day and headed over to Knibbe Ranch in the evening for entertainment, drinks, fireworks, and more!!  Sunday and Monday are going to be fun filled with our annual Paisley Awards.. Which is our version of the Grammys.. Top leaders will be recognized for their hard work.. Monday night our new catalog will be revealed! This makes me want to jump up and down while I write this, but I shall contain myself for now.

Getting to see our founders again is high on my list. We haven’t seen them since our a Jamaican vacation at the end of April. So it’s long overdue.  Reconnecting with my zebra family, meeting new zebras.. I cannot wait!!

Kenan and I have never worked a job where we get excited about events all the time. Maybe holidays and vacations.. Lol. With Pink Zebra there is always something wonderful to look forward too. After our fun filled Reunion, we have Rallies coming up in October and February.  Incentive trip dates will be released at reunion so we will also have that to look forward to. AND the location for next years reunion!

Pink Zebra Rallies!

Up and coming on February 7th, Zebra’s all over the US will be the first to see our new catalog launch.  This is a huge deal in our little herd.   This is a time of gasping, squealing, and lots of cheering.  Nothing gets your energy flowing like a herd of Zebras all united for one cause!  We are committed as a company to change lives.  The products are a tool that we use to do that.  Seeing all of the new and trendy home decor and amazing new scents makes those dreams seem even more possible than before.

Whitetail Season – A Family Favorite

Yesterday was a very exciting day for all around our family.  Since moving to the country a couple of years ago, we have always been able to maintain a freezer full of venison.  Thank God! This is a big savings at the grocery store.  More than just the expense it saves us, we really enjoyed the time together as a family preparing for hunting season and cold/mornings waiting for our next freezer full of meat to walk out of the woods.

Our schedules around here have been a little insane lately.  Kenan with his new job and me with my full time job of kids, home schooling, events, and Pink Zebra.  We were actually starting to wonder if we were going to be able to take a buck this year or wait for youth weekend for our oldest daughter to harvest a doe for us.  

Mid morning yesterday a cold front blew in.  Now to any hunter you know what a cold front brings, frisky deer.  I ran and threw some extra corn out with a special “seasoning” that drives deer nuts.  Then we waited.

About 2 hours later out walks a nice buck.  Kenan grabs his .308 and the kids and I prepare for the gunshot.  Kenan calls his hand me down rifle from his grandfather, Death becomes Her.  She is one of the oldest yet most accurate guns in our collection.  Kenan just doesn’t have the heart to retire her yet.. 

This buck should clearly be an 8 pointer! Look at the length on those G2s. Our buck population around here has a genetic link of not having brow tines.  Very new and strange to me.  The buck our oldest daughter shot last season was similar to this one.

2013 Harvest

Well, brow tines or not, we thankfully have meat for our freezer.  We might take a doe during youth or a spike if the opportunity presents himself.. lol.  We love venison stew, fried back strap, back strap bacon wraps, and of course we love to make sausage.  We need some hogs to come out and play now!  We prefer a 60/40 hog/deer ratio in our sausage.

This is house the hubby and I spent our evening yesterday.

Yeah that’s me holding the guts in while Kenan gets through the rib cage.  Not the most fantastic smell in the world but hey, whatever puts meat on the table and it’s doesn’t get any more organic than this!

After a tiring evening the children invaded my space and we watched a movie together.

Our doe herd came back this morning. We have a doe that dropped twins earlier this year.  We can now tell that one is a doe and the other a button buck.  I look forward to watching him grow.

The Christmas season is always such a bittersweet time.  The memories of loved ones who have passed on, prayers for a white Christmas, hot chocolate around the Christmas tree, and precious time with family.  December brings out the best in most people.
